In the Community

re:TH!NK is working hard to make sure everyone has equitable access to opportunities to be physically active. That's why we are working to create safe routes to places to play and be active, increasing use of active transportation (biking and walking) and working with local decision-makers to consider biking and walking in land use, planning and design.

GettingToParksSurvey socialre:TH!NK's Active Communities Team is focusing on "safe routes to recreation" to make it easier for people to walk, bike or take transit to their local recreational facilities. You can help us by taking our survey of how you get to your local park.

Visit our Drive Your Bike page for more details on using your bicycle for transportation.

Winnebago County has a Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan for the rural areas of the county. Over 175 residents helped provide input for the plan.

At Schools

Safe Routes to School

SRTSlogoEast Central Regional Planning Commission, parents, teachers and other concerned citizens are working to increase biking and walking to school. There are several SRTS Taskforces in Winnebago County. Each group has been working to complete walking and biking audits, conduct student and parent surveys and develop local action plans to promote students walking and biking to school safely. To learn more about a specific school district's taksforce activities, visit the Safe Routes to School website and click "local programs."

In the Workplace

re:TH!NK partners with local well workplace initiatives like Well City Fox Cities and Well Oshkosh (also called Oshkosh Area Businesses Focused on Health, Inc). Each group is collaborating to make it easier for employers to make healthy workplaces and healthier communities.

Another local initiative that has really brought local business leaders together is the Weight of the Fox Valley. Many re:TH!NK partners and residents are involved in the WOTFV Worksite Wellness and Active Communities Action Teams.
