smoke-free air

In May of 2009, Governor Jim Doyle signed the Smoke-Free Wisconsin Act into law guaranteeing all workers and the public the right to breath clean air. Coalitions like re:THI!NK from around the state worked for many years educting the public, business owners, youth and lawmakers about the importance of a smoke-free air law. On July 5, 2010, workers and the community will be able to breath free as the law goes into effect. For more information about Wisconsin’s smoke-free air law, please visit SmokeFree Wisconsin’s legislative page.

Now our task is to make sure everyone in Wisconsin is prepared for July 5. re:TH!NK has several ways to get the word out to the community through a variety of evidence-based strategies recommended by the CDC, American’s for Non-Smokers’ Rights and the Tobacco Prevention and Control Program. Of course, re:TH!NK needs the help of local community members and organziations to ensure successful implementation of the new law.
